Tips:
You will only need to perform these simple steps one time in order to activate your cell phone for creating events.
At this point, you will be ready to create events from your cell phone! See below for instructions on receiving alerts of calendar events to your cell phone.
That's it! You are now set up to both receive calendar text alerts and create calendar events and alerts right from your cell phone! See below for details.
Creating a new event from your cell phone (for users who have the Gold Plan or Platinum Plan):
mlmv2 event mycal dinner with bob on fri
or
mlmv2 e mycal dinner with bob on fri
"mycal" in this example is the ID for one of your Google Calendars (which you can set up here). "dinner with bob on fri" is Quick Add terminology, which you can read about here. This provides an extremely easy way to set up an event using plain language.
Send the new text message to DOTCOM (368266).
Editing the last event from your cell phone (for users who have the Gold Plan or Platinum Plan):
Only the last event created from your cell phone can be edited from your cell phone. If you create the event from the web, you must edit it from the web. There are six different commands you can run on the last event created from your cell phone. To edit the last event, start by creating a new text message on your cell phone, which will be sent to DOTCOM (368266) when complete. Each of the following commands are prefaced with "mlmv2 last event," which can be shortened to "mlmv2 le" as follows (the long and short versions will be displayed in each case):
This will send the event back to you, and is a good way to see whether you entered the event correctly when you created it.
Please note that the short version of the delete command is the only one that is NOT reduced to three letters. This is both for security, and to remove ambiguity with "led," which is used for editing the description. BE CAREFUL when using this command, as this will delete the last event created from your cell phone in one fell swoop, and cannot be reversed without creating a brand new event. Use the get command above first, to ensure you are deleting the correct event. This command is helpful if you make a mistake when setting the day, time, or invites for your event, as those can only be set when creating an event or editing from the web, and cannot be edited from your cell phone
When creating your text message, replace [TITLE] above with the new title for your event. For example, your text message may say something like "mlmv2 let Golf with Bob." The title is what identifies your event, and is sent in all reminders or alerts for your event, and is displayed on your calendar.
When creating your text message, replace [LOCATION] above with the new location for your event. For example, your text message may say something like "mlmv2 lel Joe's Diner."
When creating your text message, replace [DESCRIPTION] above with the new description for your event. For example, your text message may say something like "mlmv2 led This is to discuss our new business plan"
When creating your text message, replace [ALERT TYPE] above is one of "email", "web", "phone", or "all". Each option can be shortened to just the first letter. [TIME BEFORE EVENT] is a number, and is the amount of time before the event begins. This number depends on [TIME UNITS], which can be any one of "minutes", "hours" or "days", and can also be shortened to just the first letter. Here are some examples, using the short versions of the text messages, and what they represent:
"mlmv2 lea e 20 m" ---- This will create an email alert for the last event you created from your cell phone, which will be sent 20 minutes before the event begins.
"mlmv2 lea p 5 h" ---- This will create an alert that will be sent as a text message to your cell phone 5 hours before the event begins
"mlmv2 lea w 2 d" ---- This will create a pop-up reminder when viewing your Google calendar from the web, which will be displayed 2 days before the event begins.
"mlmv2 lea a 20 m" ---- This will create an alert that will be sent through all means (cell phone text message, email, and web pop-up message when viewing your Google calendar) which will be sent 20 minutes before the start of the event.
Receiving information about your events from your cell phone (for users who have the Gold Plan or Platinum Plan):
You can receive a list of events from any of your calendars right on your cell phone by sending an easy command. Each of the following commands can be sent by creating a new text message on your cell phone, which will be sent to DOTCOM (368266) when complete. Each command is prefaced with "mlmv2 calendar." You may shorten "calendar" to only the first letter. You can receive the next event, the previous event, all of today's events, all of tomorrow's events, all of yesterday's events, all of the events for the next 7 days, and all of the events for the 7 days after that, for any specific calendar.
